Welcome to

Markethill Presbyterian Church

We are a family of followers of Jesus Christ based in the village of Markethill. With God’s help, we desire to worship and serve him in the community where he has planted us.

Who we are

Markethill Presbyterian Church is one congregation within the wider Presbyterian Church in Ireland. The word Presbyterian derives from the word for Elders, and describes our system of Church government, where each congregation has democratically elected leaders, or Elders.

The Presbyterian Church holds that “the Word of God as set forth in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments is the only infallible rule of faith and practice, and the supreme standard of the Church”. That may seem complicated but what it means in practice is that our authority as a church resides in the Bible in which God has spoken and through which He still speaks. It is this conviction which shapes our life together at Markethill Presbyterian Church and hence as a church we are committed to teaching the Bible systematically and clearly week by week.

Sunday Services

Morning Worship:

September – June services are at 11.30am, usually in the Upper Meeting House.

July – August services are at 10.30am. (On the first Sunday of July and August the service is in the Upper Meeting House and the rest of the summer services are in the Lower Meeting House).

Evening Worship: 7.00pm, as advertised.
